Client planted seeds 3 years ago ….

Planning work is a lot like farming. We plant the seeds of the crop we’ll harvest down the road.

We plant the seeds by meeting with a professional, getting really clear about what we’re trying to create, and then designing the guardrails we’ll need that’ll keep us safe on track for the ride forward.

William is a client who first met with us 3 years ago. His in-laws were suffering from a variety of health conditions, and he wanted to preserve their options as they aged. We met and identified what the best scenario looked liked, and bagan planning for that.

Part of planning for the best scenario is planning for all of the contingency possibilities – the worst and the not-so-great scenarios.

We install guardrails for each of these not-so-great scenarios, and then monitor the progress as the circumstances evolve.

“Monitoring the progress” is like tending the garden. We make little changes if needed – and we don’t touch a thing if not.

This is the process William has enjoyed over the last few years. Now, three years after planing the seed by calling us for a short meeting, he’s in a great position. He’s got “comfort and care” resources set aside for his in-laws, he’s got the peace of mind knowing that he’s done a great job for them, and finally – he’s been able to rely on our network of caring professionals to help him with the bumps along the way.

How would you like to be sitting in your future? Safe and protected with guardrails in place and a team of caring professionals there for you and watching out ofr you?

Or are you a do-it yourselfer who prefers to be on his own?

We advise and have great relationships with both types of clients.

+ Can you explain probate in simple terms?
Probate is the group of laws that society follows in determining the ownership, control and guardianship of a person’s assets and people in their lives.
+ What’s the difference between a will and a trust?
A will is a letter to the Judge in a probate case, telling the Judge how you want him to disperse your assets.

A trust avoids probate and sets up in advance the instructions your representatives will follow. With a properly crafted and funded trust you will avoid the expense and delay of probate!
+ What is “Elder Law”?
Elder law describes the area of law centered on the issues that senior citizens face during the decades of their 60’s, 70’s 80’s and beyond. It combines estate planning, familiarity with medicaid and medicare, asset protection, and other areas of focus to protect the client.
